Me at Nine Months!!
I have had an amazing nine months!! Can you believe that from last month to this month I have actually started to try to balance myself without any help? I'm trying to stand and walk!
I am able to say "mama" and say it to my mom... which she loves. I crawl like a champ (it's so easy) and now I love to stand and my favorite is when mom tries to walk with me. I love getting from one place to another so quickly! I know when mom says, "No" and I don't like it. I usually start to cry when she has to redirect me.
Here are some of the things that I could have experienced in the 8th month (from What to Expect the First Year):
- It says that I will develop his sense of humor and will laugh a lot
- I could string together vowels and consonants and say "ma-ma" or "da-da"
- I will start to understand what "no" means and most likely not like it
- Bear some weight on legs when held upright
- Feed self a cracker
- Rake with fingers an object and pick it up in fist
- Turn in the direction of a voice
- Look for a dropped item
- Pass a cube/object from one hand to the other
- Stand holding on to someone or something
- Object if you try to take a toy away
- Work to get a toy that's out of reach
- Play peekaboo
- Get into sitting position from stomach
- Creep or craw
- Pull up to standing position from sitting
- Pick up tiny objects with any part of thumb and finger
- Play patty-cake or wave bye-bye
- Walk holding onto furniture-- cruise
- Stand alone momentarily
- Start to "baby-sign"
- Stand up while in my crib
- Drink from a cup independently
- Stand alone well
- Play ball by rolling a ball back and forth
- Eating less and less formula
- Eating three meals a day by 9 months
- Aware of strangers and fearful of them
- Attachment to security itemsAs you can see, there's a lot listed there and I accomplished almost all of them! I'm not signing back to mom yet (but it'll be soon), I can't stand alone well, and I'm not attached to security items. I also don't play peekaboo. But the rest of the things I'm pretty much doing! Here's what the book says I'll be doing throughout the ninth month:
- Stand holding onto someone or something
- Pull up to standing position from sitting
- Object if a toy is taken away
- Say "mama" or "dada" indiscriminately
- Play peekaboo
- Exchange back-and-forth gestures
- Get into sitting position from stomach
- Play patty-cake (claping hands) or wave bye-bye
- Pick up tiny objects with thumb and first finger
- Walk holding onto furniture (cruise)
- Understand "No" (but not always obey)
- Stand alone momentairly
- Point to something to get my needs met
- Say "mama" or "dada" discrimintely
- Indicate my wants in ways other than crying
- Play ball by rolling a ball to someone
- Drink from a cup independently
- Stand alone well
- Use immature jargoning (gibberish that sounds like a foreign language)
- Say one word other than "mama" or "dada"
- Respond to one-step command with gestures ("Give that to me" with hand out)
- Walk well
- Explore and play with my food while eating at mealtime
- Express rhythm in some way (rocking, bouncing, rolling, dancing)
- Biting others (maybe... not all babies bite)
- Develop new fears
- Start to exert my independence and need some form of discipline
Here are some pictures of me from today:
See you on Tuesday!:)
