Me at 46 Weeks Old!
This was a great week for me! I had two playdates and then went to the pediatrician yesterday! Here's a review of my week:
Mom contacted the EMU Alumni Association about getting a free bib for me. It arrived on Wednesday and mom put it on me and took a few pictures. Then she emailed them to someone at Eastern and they said I might be one of the pictures that they use in the magazine that they send out to alumni! Wouldn't that be neat-o??
Here are some other pictures of me from Wednesday:
On Thursday, we got up and headed over to mom's friend Kristen Curley's house. She has a 17 month-old son named Ryan (I've had two previous playdates with him), and then mom's former track mate Laura was there with her daughter MacKenzie. Mac is about a month and a half younger than me. We played at Kristen's from 10:00-12:00! Here are some pictures of me from my playdate:
I saw Ryan's sippy and I wanted it...

Because we were at the playdate during my nap time, I fell asleep in the car on the way home. I was only able to get about twenty minutes of shut-eye, but it lasted me all afternoon. We got home, had lunch and then we had to head off to ANOTHER playdate!! This time it was here in my neighborhood at a lady named Melanie's house. She has a son named Oliver and he's only two months older than me! Kristen and Grace were there too, so it was fun to be around two babies so close to my own age!

Oooooh... Oliver has a bottle... I want it!!

"Gus... you just wake up in the middle of the night and play... then go back to sleep at 5am!"
We left our afternoon playdate at 3 and got home just in time for a nap. I decided to sleep as much as I could, so I did two and a half hours! :D All that playing wore me out!
Friday came along and we had to go grocery shopping.
While we were at Wal-Mart, mom decided to buy me a sippy cup like the ones that I've seen Ryan and Grace use. She figured that since I take them from everyone else, I must have wanted one for myself (she was right)!!
Dad got home Friday night and was watching me play with my dino-rider. He was amazed at how I was playing with the wheels and watching them spin (yes, I am very inquisitive). I overheard him tell mom that he was so proud of me and amazed at what I can do!
This is a new way that I've been sitting lately... mom calls it the "cheerleader pose" hehehe
Saturday came and we didn't go anywhere or do anything. I played all day and mom and dad were so happy to just be together as a family. Of course, this meant that mom had the perfect opportunity to take more pictures of me!
On Sunday, dad moved the livingroom around a bit and then we relaxed for the rest of the day. I'm able to walk a lot now and I've been keeping mom and dad extra busy with watching me and seeing what I'm getting into. Everything amazes me and I want to see what everything does!!
Sunday night I didn't feel very well (mom thinks I'm ready to cut my first teeth) and I was quite cranky. Nothing made me feel better, except to be held. Then I didn't want to be held anymore, and as soon as mom or dad put me down, I wanted back into their arms. I honestly wasn't sure what I wanted.
Yesterday was Monday. Mom and I had lunch with Wendy and then while we were out, mom noticed that my left ear was really red and hot to the touch. Wendy felt too and agreed. So we came back to the house and Wendy got her thermometer and took my temperature. it was 101.1 and while it's not extremely high, it was enough to concern mom. So she called the nurse advice line at my pediatrician's office and told them my temp and that my ear was red. She wasn't sure if it was an ear infection or not. They scheduled me a 5:00 appointment.
Mom took more pictures of me before we had to leave for my appointment:
We left for my appointment and met daddy there. They weighed me and I am now 21 pounds and five and a half ounces! Only 1/2 a pound and I can't use my baby carseat anymore!!! Mom took some pictures of me while we waited for the doctor:
The doctor said that my ears were clear (yay) and my lungs and heart sounded good. He felt my mouth and said that it could be a while before any teeth come in, but just as he said that, he also said it could be tomorrow that I cut them. In his opinion, he didn't see or feel anything to indicate that they were ready to appear though. He said it was most likely a head cold and to give me Tylenol as needed and use Saline in my nose to loosen any mucus. Then he sent us on our way.
We went to Carrabba's for dinner and I decided to sleep. Then mom and dad went to Rita's for dessert, and I decided to sleep more. We got home, I took a bath and then I went to bed at 8:00.
I didn't have a good night sleeping. I woke a few times crying and it was hard for mom and dad to get me to actually go to sleep.
That brings us to today. I've only had a 30 minute nap and I've been very grouchy all morning. Mom is hoping that I'll take a nice long nap this afternoon. We'll see...
See you next Tuesday!!
Gus

I cannot believe he is almost a year old! Hope he feels better soon.
He is just the cutest little guy and it is very hard for me to actually believe that he is almost 1 already. Many hugs and kisses and prayers that he feels better soon! Love, Gram
