Me at 49 Weeks Old!
This has been a very busy week for me and my parents!! Not only did we have a lot of fun here, but we traveled to Michigan and back in just a few short days!! I'd love to share pictures and news from my wonderful week!
On Wednesday the 13th, mom and I went with Wendy to Toys-R-Us and mom got me some new 12 month onesies that are plain white, and then she also got me some awesome new sippy cups that are insulated and have a hard top. They're 100% spill-proof and mom was really excited to find a bunch in boy colors. After we went shopping, we picked up Kaitlyn from preschool and then we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. Mom packed me some strawberry yogurt, but while she was giving Wendy money to buy her lunch, I got too excited and grabbed the open container off the table and spilled all of it on me and the floor. So instead, mom had to buy me a yogurt from CFA. It's okay though, because I ate THE WHOLE THING! It was eight ounces (double what I usually eat) and mom was super excited at how much I ate!! When we were done with lunch, we went back to Wendy's so she could trim my nails for me. As you saw in a picture above, she also picked at my lip for me. Mom and dad asked my pediatrician about it a few months ago and she said not to worry about it, that it'd probably go away. Well... it's just gotten bigger and bigger. Mom has to edit my lip in my pictures because it's not the most attractive thing. Well, mom asked Wendy to see if she could figure out what it was. She tried and I cried, and it didn't go away... in fact, it just got red and started to bleed. Wendy said it was really hard... and not like a zit that would ooze. Hmmmm... so now my lip was red and bloody.
We went back home and I took a nice long nap while mom packed for us. We had to be in bed early so that we could get enough sleep before our 4am wake up!!
We got on the road by 4:30 on Thursday the 14th. Mom didn't get much sleep Wednesday night, but daddy did, so he got to drive us to Michigan. There were a few parts in the mountains that mom said looked like when you're on an airplane!!
I slept a lot of the trip, and then I also read my books, and played with mom in the back seat. Considering that I'm a wiggle-butt, I did really well for being trapped in my seat for 12 hours straight!!!
We got to Gram and Pap's around 5pm and they were so excited to see me that they ran outside to the car! Gram didn't even hug mom, she wanted to get her hands on me!!! We went grocery shopping and then came home in time for me to get to bed. We had to get to bed so we'd be well-rested before my big day in court on Friday!!!
On Friday, April 15th, we got up and got on the road by 8:45. We had to be at the Macomb County Courthouse by 10:30 for my 11am hearing. When we got to the courthouse, there were parking spots across the street... so daddy pulled into the first one he found. When we looked up to see what was around us, we saw that we were in front of Gus' Coney Island! Mom and dad and Gram and Pap got so excited to see a coney island named the same as my name! We had to go in, and since we were early (it was 9:45) we decided to go in and have breakfast. The ladies that worked there were super nice to me and loved that my name was Gus!
After we ate breakfast, mom changed me into my court clothes. Then we headed across the street and met my birth mom and her mom on the second floor.
I was so excited to see my birth mom and grandma! We had a bit of a wait before we could go in, so mom and dad let me walk around and show off my walking skills. Pap took some pictures of me while we waited.
We ended up going into our hearing at 11:35. Mom was really nervous and excited at the same time. I was so proud to have my mom and dad there, as well as my birth mom and grandma. It meant to much to have people there who love me so much!! Here are the pictures from the hearing:

After everything was over (around 11:45) the judge granted my adoption and I was officially Gus Daniel Walker! Everyone clapped and mom and dad said, "Whoo hooo!!!" Then we took some pictures with the judge (she was really nice).

After we finished in court, we headed over to the Bath City Bistro to meet my Great Grandma for lunch! We walked over and met her outside the restaurant. My birth mom and her mom drove over and met us there too. I was super excited to finally meet her! And she was SUPER excited to finally meet me. I'm her only Great-Grandchild!!!
While we had lunch, I got to sit in my birth mom's lap and play with ice cubes. My grandma helped me figure out how to grab them... I really had fun sitting with them and being surrounded by everyone who loves me so much!!
I was so excited that my second cousin Madeline came over from school to see me!!

After we finished lunch, we said our goodbyes and then mom and dad and I headed to Plymouth to a place called Creatopia for a special Adoption Day project as a family.
Mom had emailed the owner and told her about my Adoption Day and she was delighted to have us come in. She was ready for us when we got there and we went to work on painting a plate with all of our handprints on it.
After painting the plate, we went to Outback Steakhouse to meet everyone for dinner. We were there first, and then Gram and Pap came, then Uncle Scott came with Aunt Christie, Lily and Alex, and then my God Mother Jessica came with her husband Mike and my third cousin Brenna.
Aunt Christie and Uncle Scott gave me a really nice card (Mom already put it in my baby book), and then two books and two shirts and a pair of shorts!! Gram and Pap gave me a See-n-Say that I wanted! We had a wonderful dinner and mom took lots of pictures:

After dinner we went back to Gram and Pap's to crash-- we were all super tired from a really busy, but absolutely wonderful day!! I went to bed for the very first time as an official Walker. It was wonderful!
April 16th, 2011
We got up on Saturday and then just relaxed for the majority of the morning. We met Aunt Christie, Alex and Lily at Once Upon A Child and mom and dad bought me some clothes for summer and a pair of Crocs.
Before we went shopping though, mom fed me yogurt for breakfast and then I took a quick nap. When I got up, mom noticed that the white thing on my lip was GONE!!!! She was so excited!!! All that was left was a red spot and a little bit of blood.
In the carseat AGAIN!
After some shopping, we went to Mongolian BBQ for lunch and Pap came from their house to meet us, and then Gram came straight from work to meet us. We had a nice lunch together and then we headed back to Gram and Pap's for some playtime!

We had to leave in the morning, so we went to dinner one last time together. Mom and Pap had a craving for some ribs, so we went to the Texas Roadhouse. I hear it's delicious.
When we got back to Gram and Pap's, we went to bed because we had to be up early on Sunday to drive home. I pretty much fell asleep as soon as I was put into the pack-n-play!!
April 17th, 2011
We got up at 4:00 on Sunday and while daddy loaded the car, mom took some pictures of me. I slept really well, but I was so tired from going all day Friday and almost all day Saturday without a nap, that I was really tired still.
Mom and dad said goodbye to Gram and Pap and mom got sad. I don't blame her... when I'm older and I have to say goodbye to them, I'll probably get sad and cry too. :(
I slept for a HUGE part of the drive back to NC. I think mom figured out that I slept for almost 8 total hours (it's a 12 hour trip). I was exhausted!!
When we got home, mom and dad were shocked to see all the damage caused by the tornado that came through Holly Springs on Saturday. Thankfully we had power and no damage to our house... others in our neighborhood were not so lucky.
Mom played with me inside and daddy unpacked the car. We got home around 5 so we had plenty of time to play and relax before we had to head to bed. I took a shower with daddy before bed and then I went down to sleep instantly.
April 18th, 2011
Mom had a K15 playdate scheduled for us at the park on Monday morning, but after being stuck in a carseat for 12 hours Thursday, 5 hours on Friday, 1 hour on Saturday, and 12 hours on Sunday, she felt bad for me and decided to give me the whole day to play and not have to go into my seat. I was so thankful. We also had storm damage here in Holly Springs and we had a HUGE detour to get into our development, and to the main road. So mom decided to just stay home and relax.
Not much else happened on Monday. My lip is TOTALLY healed and looks like new! Mom is so excited!!!

That brings us to today! We got up and soon after, a lady from mom's MOMS Club brought over a new play thing for me! Mom got it for $20 and was super excited!!
I spent the entire morning playing on it!!
I took a nice morning nap and then this afternoon I played a little more, had lunch, and then we went grocery shopping. When we got back home, mom unloaded and put away the groceries and then I took a nap. When I got up, Wendy came over for a bit and was so excited to see my lip in person! She felt bad that it bled and that I cried... but I'm so glad she fixed me!!
After Wendy left, mom changed me and then we headed to O'Charley's to have dinner with some other moms who have adopted children or are in the process. I met a boy named Steven (he's almost 4) and his birthday is also May 11th!!! I was so excited to hear that someone else has my birthday!!
We left around 7:30 and it was time for bed when I got home.
See... told you I had a busy week!!! Mom is going to mail out my birth announcements this week... she's super excited to share the great news with everyone!!!
