50 Weeks (April 26th, 2011)

on Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Well it's been quite a week! Not only did I go to my first baseball game, but I celebrated my first Easter and participated in my very first Easter egg hunt! Here are some pictures from this past week!!

April 20, 2011

I woke up on Wednesday and mom let me go out on the screen porch. I really like to go out there because it's like being outside, but I don't have to worry about getting a sunburn, or worry about the bugs. I also like it because the cats and dogs come out there with me!

After we played outside for a little bit (mom even fed me breakfast out there!), we got ready for Grace and Kristen to come over because we were going to the Durham Bulls game together!
Mom and dad love live baseball and before me, they had partial season tickets to the Bulls. Grace and Kristen had never been to a game, so we all went together. Mom learned that next time she'll buy a seat for me... she'll take the stroller, and she'll bring the portable seat for me to sit in.

Mom brought an apple for me to eat while we watched the game. My favorite part was when the entire crowd would clap and cheer... I would get really excited too! We left early because I was tired and so was Grace. It was fun though and I can't wait to go back to another game!!

On Tuesday night (the 19th), mom and Wendy went to dinner and Wendy bet mom lunch that she wouldn't be able to get me off the bottle by my first birthday. She told mom that she didn't think I'd be 100% off the bottle and drinking from a sippy only by May 11th. Mom took her bet and then on Wednesday she gave me my last bottle and started the "No Bottle Challenge" on Thursday.

Daddy was in California for work (he left on Monday) and came home really late tonight (after midnight). I sure miss him when he's gone.

Day one of the "No Bottle Challenge"

We didn't go anywhere on Thursday, but mom took pictures of me reading the book that Aunt Christie and Uncle Scott gave me for my Adoption Day. I love it and give it to mom to read to me all the time.

Mom found this awesome shirt while shopping a few weeks ago and decided to put me in it and take some pictures of it. It says, "Born in 2010" and mom loves it because you can't get them anymore. She said she'll keep it forever.

On Thursday I started to wave a lot. Mom was laughing because I'm amazed at my hands and love to watch them as they wave. Since I hadn't seen my daddy since Monday, when I saw him I had to wave at him- he waved  back and was so proud of me!!  :)

April 22nd, 2011

Today was Earth Day and Good Friday. Mom spent time today telling me about Jesus Christ and how he died on Good Friday. She said it was very sad and she always thinks about Jesus's mother Mary on Good Friday.  It was a rainy day (mom said it was from God crying) and we didn't go anywhere. It was also a bit cold so we played inside.

Day two of the "No Bottle Challenge" went really well. I like that mom gives me different sippy cups to use throughout the day. I like the ones with a straw and my favorite ones are like the green one in the picture above.

April 23rd, 2011

We got up on Saturday and played for a little bit. I love the weekend because I get to spend more time with my dad. He's a funny guy and makes me laugh.

Mom dyed eggs on Saturday... she wanted me to have real eggs for my first Easter. I like the way they turned out...

After mom dyed the eggs, she and I played in the livingroom. I let her read to me and then she took pictures of me playing on my playground.

The third day of the "No Bottle Challenge" went really well again. Mom keeps telling me what a good boy I am for not being sad about not having a bottle anymore. I figure if I can't see it, I don't miss it. Plus, I like being a big boy and having straws and stuff to practice with. :)

HOPPY EASTER!!!

Mom put me in this "Hanging With My Peeps" shirt that she said was for Easter... I guess Peeps are a kind of Easter candy. Anyway... we played in the morning and I kept waiting to see when I'd get my basket and go on my hunt!

After daddy mowed the yard and came in and showered and cooled off, we decided to do our hunt.
My mom and dad take really good care of my eyes. They want to make sure they're protected from the sun (and mom thinks I look super cute when I'm wearing my shades)

I just didn't feel like wearing them... so I gave daddy a bit of a struggle. He finally got them on me though.

Yay! Let's start the egg hunt!!

This was the first time that I'd ever been in the grass and it felt really strange. I wasn't sure how to walk in it... and I didn't want to crawl, so I kind did this weird walk/crawl.

I see eggs!!!

It only took a little bit for me to get comfortable enough to stand up and walk around. I found some eggs all by myself!!!

Me and my turtle egg!

Daddy was very proud of me and kissed me for being such a great hunter!!

It was really hot on Sunday afternoon, so we went inside and played. Mom gave me my basket and then we had dinner. Mom made au gratin potatoes (I really liked them), crescent rolls (yummm), green bean casserole (I wasn't a big fan), and they got a Honeybaked Ham. It was a yummy Easter dinner and I ate almost all of it!

In my basket, the only thing that's mine is the Easter Sing-A-Ma-Jig... the candy is all mom and dad's

April 25th, 2011

We got up on Monday and played for a while. I did really well with the "No Bottle Challenge" and mom decided to take the bottles from the cabinet and put them in a basket. She didn't want to put them away completely (in case I had a relapse) but she was really excited to get them out of the kitchen.

We played for a while and then I had a bit of an accident. I fell off the back of my playground thingy... I didn't hurt myself, but I did cry because it scared me. Mom was scared too and she decided to put my gigantic frog pillow down so if I fall again, I'll land on it, instead of the ground.

After I took my nap, I had lunch and mom gave me an apple. I just love apples!! Mom took a video of me eating this apple... it's on my blog...

After lunch, mom dressed me in a black bandana and took pictures of me. She said they just might be the cutest pictures that she's ever taken of me. I had a serious case of the sillies while she was taking them.

April 26th, 2011

So that brings us to today. We got up this morning and played for a while. Mom took pictures of me playing and having some formula in the sippy cup. She bought her last container of formula last week and because I've been eating a lot more solids, and only 16-20 ounces of formula each day, she's eager to get me to start drinking whole milk after I turn one. Tomorrow will be the last day of the "No Bottle Challenge" and if we can get through tomorrow... it'll have been a full week without a bottle and mom can say I'm officially over it and weaned off the bottle!! It's a huge milestone considering that I've been drinking from a bottle for 49 weeks!!!

After we played all morning, mom put me down for a nap. She got all my birth announcements ready to go to the post office, and after I got up and had lunch, we went to the post office and then grocery shopping.
That's a lot of announcements!!! Mom and dad can't wait to share the AMAZING news about me and my finalization with all their friends and family!!

We went grocery shopping and mom had this new sippy saver thingy that she put on my cup. I think she learned the hard way last week when I took the frog snack container and threw it on the ground in the check out and it shattered and my snacks went EVERYWHERE. Not only did I make a mess, but I also broke the snack container. Mom ordered me a replacement one, but now she puts this saver thing on the things she doesn't want me to drop. My sippy was what she used today. I tried to throw my cup a few times, but the saver saved it!

We got home from shopping and I played for the rest of the afternoon. Mom took a few videos of me today... some I'm dancing and some I'm just tired.

I was super tired at dinner so mom took me to bed about 30 minutes early. I was passed out and sleeping by 7:30. She's just hoping that I'll sleep through the night.

This looks like me doesn't it?? Well it's not... it's actually Pope John Paul II. Mom is obsessed with him (really, she is) and Gram bought her a book about the Pope and in the book was this picture of him as a baby. Isn't it crazy how he holds his hands behind his back like I do?? And don't we kinda look alike? Mom thinks so too. In fact, she thinks that Pope John Paul II was reincarnated and was born again as me!!! :)  She's just a little bit crazy... or is she???

Can you believe that next week is week 51 and the week after is week 52??? Mom can't believe that I'm almost a year old. She remembers starting this blog in Michigan while I was just a wee little babe. How I've grown and changed!!! I'm so glad that mom writes each week so that we can go back and see pictures and see how much I've changed!

See you next Tuesday!!
:)
