It really is incredible to think that a year ago today, I came into this world. I spent the first four hours of my life snuggled with my birth mom and grandma, and then met my mom and dad. So much has happened in the last year that it's really amazing to look back and remember all the things that I've done. I'm going to do a highlight from each month of my life so far and the milestones that my mom has in my baby book.
- Born at 3:46 am on May 11th, 2010
- Weight: 6 pounds 8 ounces (16th%)
- Height: 19 inches (26th%)
- Head: 12 inches (Less than 3rd%)
- The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was on day 21 (it ended on day 91)
- It was a cold and rainy day in Michigan
- I spent first night at the hospital in the nursery
- I had my circumcision at 7am on May 12, 2010
- My birth mom was released around 11:30 and my parents were able to take me at 1:30
- My first ten days in an Extended Stay hotel room in Canton, MI
- I was baptized on May 22nd, 2010 My Godmother is Jessica Tonkovich (my second cousin) and my Godfather is Scott Ghrist (my uncle)
- I spent days 11-24 in a Marriot Residence Inn in Canton, MI
- Dad flew back to NC on Sunday, May 29, 2010 and mom and I stayed at the hotel alone for five days
- Weight: 8 pounds 4 oz (19th%)
- Height: 22 inches (64th%)
- Head: 14.49 inches (25th%)
- Moved to Gram and Pap's on June 3rd
- Smiled at mama for the first time

- On July 3rd my Grandpa and Grandma Walker came to MI to see me and I met my Great Aunt Pricilla
- July 9th: Daddy found out that we were approved to go back to NC!!!
- July 10th Uncle Dave, Aunt Heather, Eamon, Aine and Benton came to MI for a visit
- July 10th: Daddy came to MI!!!
- July 11th: Headed back to NC
- Started wearing cloth diapers
- July 29th, 2010 I laughed for the first time:
- No pediatrician appointment this month
- Burt's Bees baby shower (August 2nd)
- Went to the Atlantic Ocean for the first time (August 7th, 2010)
- Aimee and Matt Kuhn visited with Lucas and Tanner
- I rolled over from my left and right from my belly to my back!!
- Mom joined MOMS Club
- Weight: 15 pounds (52nd%)
- Height: 25.25 inches (62nd%)
- Head: 16.25 inches (25th%)
- Gram and Pap visited for Labor Day!
- I went to the Atlantic Ocean for the second time
- I went to Indiana for Grandpa Walker's surprise 60th birthday party!
- I sat in the exersaucer for the first time
- Tried solid foods for the first time on September 21st
- No pediatrician appointment this month
- Had a baby shower from mom's 4th graders (October 14th)
- Had our first Post Placement Visit on October 26th
- First Halloween
- Weight: 17 pounds 5 oz (48th%)
- Height: 27.25 inches (78th%)
- Head: 17.25 inches (52nd%)
- Got my first vaccines
- Gram and Pap visited (November 15-20)
- Saw Santa at the mall
- Grandma and Grandpa walker visited for Thanksgiving
- Rolling over from front to back and back to front!!
- Celebrated my 1/2 birthday
- Started crawling on November 27th!
- No pediatrician appointment this month
- Crawling!
- Said "dada" on December 25th!
- Started sitting unassisted
- Eating finger-foods
- Started sitting in the shopping cart
- Had my first photo shoot with professional pictures
- Went to mass for the first time (12-24-10)
- Celebrated my first Christmas
- Had my first snow on December 4th and then again on December 26th
- On December 30th I went from laying to sitting up on my own!
- Went for follow-up flu shot and my weight was 19.5 pounds (45th%)
- Started holding my bottle on my own
- Slept for over 12 hours uninterrupted
- January 9th I stood up (grabbing something) for the first time
- Said "mama" on January 26th, 2011
- Tried using a sippy (I need more practice)
- Had our second Post Placement Visit (January27th
- Started climbing the stairs to bed :)
- Weight: 20 pounds 3 ounces (44th%)
- Height: 28.50 inches (58th%)
- Head: 17.50 inches (25th%)
- Went to the park for the first time on the 2nd
- Started screeching (February 12)
- Went to MI to see Gram and Pap and see my birth mom's family and birth father's family (16th-22nd)
- Grandpa and Grandma Walker visited (24th-26th)
- Went on my first wagon ride on February 25th
- Took my first steps on the 28th!!
- Went to the pediatrician for a head-cold on March 28th-- weight: 21.5 inches (44th%)
- Started waving (3-14-11)
- 1st St. Patty's Day :)
- 1st trip to the NC Zoo on March 17th
- Fully walking on March 16th
- Stood and picked something up (without falling or assistance) March 26th
- No pediatrician appointment this month
- 1st haircut on April 1st
- Stood up unassisted (April 7th)
- Pointed to my nose when asked (10th)
- Went to MI for my Adoption Day!!! (April 14-16th)
- Met my birth Great Grandma
- Went to my first Durham Bulls game on the 20th
- I started waving bye-bye on the 20th and said "Elphie" for the first time on the 20th
- I switched to a big-boy car seat on the 24th
- Stopped drinking from a bottle and started using a sippy cup exclusively!!
- Mom and dad sent out my birth announcements
That brings us to today! I went to the doctor this afternoon for my one-year check up. My doctor was VERY pleased with my growth and development and she said I'm advanced for my age. She said I am very alert, active, and smart. :)

- Head: 18 inches (31st%)
At this stage I can say "kitty" and today I almost "mooed" when mama asked me what a cow says. :)
This last week I went to the zoo with Grace and her mama and had a great time. I went to a play date at Wendy's yesterday and a boy kicked me. Mom came over and yelled at him and made sure that I was okay (I was). She said that she used to think (because she was a teacher) that kids shouldn't hit back if another kid hits them... she always told her students to walk away or get an adult. But now that she has me, she said I am allowed to hit back if someone ever hits me because she wants me to defend myself.
I have my birthday party on Saturday and I am super excited! Yesterday Wendy and the girls gave me my gift (they won't be at my party) and they gave me a water table! It's so fun and wonderful!!! They also gave me a birthday cake and tonight mom and dad fed me a little bit for my birthday. I was cranky from my shots and from being tired so I didn't feel like eating much.
