Gus- 9-11-12  28 Months
9-11-11  16 Months

9-11-10  4 Months

Yes, I'm going to say it again... where has the time gone??? It's impossible to keep track of the months at this point. When someone asks how old he is, the general response is "two." If it's a mom usually they'll ask how many months and then I have to try and remember if it's 26 or 27... and now it's 28. Holy cow!!

Gus is such a turkey. He really is delightful and just a sweet little soul. He LOVES babies. He likes watching videos of them, videos of himself when he was a baby, and loves meeting new babies. They interest him very much and he enjoys being around other kids.

Gus is crazy coordinated too. He has been going up and down stairs (here at our house and out and about) without holding anything at all for a few months now. I still worry that he'll lose his balance and fall, but so far he's been doing an outstanding job.

He's able to gallop, and of course hop and jump. He likes to watch the Pirate Band videos and mimic their actions. In fact, he's mimicking just about everything these days. He's pretty good with knowing his colors (not just saying them, but actually identifying them correctly), he's counting up to ten (usually with assistance) and we're working on the ABCs. He can say them with help. He can identify various shapes, but his favorite to say and ID is the star. :-)

We had our very first bee sting yesterday (it was a black wasp... and he was stung twice actually). It was so very scary for him and I both. We learned (after) that his birth father has a severe allergy to bee stings-- not sure if it's genetic or not, but it's good info to have. Thankfully, Gus is okay, but it was really scary.

When we go to the park, Gus has two things that he likes to do. One is to find the slide and go down it (if it's not too high up). The second is his absolute favorite, and that's to swing. He LOVES it. Honestly, I don't know too many toddlers that don't love swings, but Gus definitely loves it. He laughs and lets out the most angelic squeals to be heard. If only he could stay this carefree and happy for the rest of his life!!

I'm working on setting up the middle room upstairs as our learning room. I'd like to get a few comfy seats and then some book shelves. It'll be our "school" when Gus is two and a half. That's when we'll be doing preschool stuff at home. I see no reason to send him somewhere and let someone else teach him anything that I can teach myself. When he's four, he'll go to real preschool... but until then, this mama will be teaching him all that he needs and more!

Here are some pictures of Gus from today:
Because he was so well-behaved at Kroger this morning, one of the workers gave him a rose!

He loved smelling it and pulling the petals off and feeling their smoothness  :-)

See the green blanket? That's where he was sleeping when I went in to get him after his nap. He loves his gigantic bear from Aunt Leah!!

With his lovey-- on the way for a walk to the park after dinner

No swings at this park so he went for his second pick-- the slide!

So handsome!

Weeeee!!!

Looking up to his daddy

Getting ready to go down the big twisty slide together
